Hongdae (ํ๋) is Seoul's most vibrant nightlife district, built around Hongik University. It's the go-to area for indie music, street performances, art, and some of the best bars and clubs in the city โ and it's very foreigner-friendly.
Getting to Hongdae
- Subway: Hongik University Station (ํ๋์ ๊ตฌ์ญ), Line 2 (Green) or Airport Express (AREX)
- Exit 9 takes you straight into the main street area
- About 20 minutes from Gangnam, 30 minutes from Itaewon by subway
Types of Venues
๐บ Craft Beer Bars โ Hongdae has a strong craft beer scene. Look for spots around the main street and the "playground" area. Many have English menus and staff used to foreign customers.
